Start by marking “My Brother Is Different: A Book for Young Children who have a Brother or Sister with Autism” as Want to Read/5. My Brother is Different was written by a Special Needs Educator, not by a children's book author, and it shows. It's informative (at least on a simple level) and it covers all the points the author was trying to make (that the sibling of an Autistic child may be confused, scared, frustrated, etc. by their sibling's behaviour) but as a children's book well, it's terrible/5(17). A booklet to help young siblings of autistic children understand what autism is. Why this book was written. This book was written to help my daughters, Jemma and Jade, understand why their brother, Jack, did the things he did and help them accept that even though he did embarrasing things when we were out he couldn't actually help it!

My Little Brother Is A Little Different is a short and real life story about the loving interaction between a big sister and her little brother who has autism. Whether you know someone who has.   The authors of My Brother Charlie are Holly Robinson Peete, an actress, and Ryan Elizabeth Peete, Holly’s daughter (age 12 at the time she co-authored the book). Holly’s son, RJ, who is also Ryan’s twin brother, was diagnosed with autism at age 3. The text is narrated by Callie, a character based upon Ryan.

This book is a workbook for children between five and eight who have a brother or sister with autism or Asperger syndrome. I filled in the book with my younger sister, Katie. She's 10 and has autism. We enjoyed the book I read out the questions and got her to tell .   I loved this book. Brother by David Chariandy is a must-read, and I completely understand why it’s making all the prize lists this Fall. It recounts the childhood and early adulthood of a sensitive Michael, and his older brother Francis. They live in a small apartment in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough with their extremely hard-working Trinidadian mother who desperately wants a better life.   My Brother is Different: A Book for Young Children Who Have a Brother or Sister with Autism (Paperback) Louise Gorrod (author), Beccy Carver (illustrator)Pages: The two share a mother, Mrs. Drew, but they have different fathers. They also live very different lives. Drew, a man in his thirties, lives with his mother in Antigua. In My Brother, she again.
